Woodward has a very active instrumental music department. Students from the feeder elementary school fifth and sixth grades travel in the morning to Woodward for band and orchestra. the seventh and eighth grade students travel in the afternoon to EHSO classes in band, orchestra, and choir, for which they earn high school credit.
The band is the Woodward ambassador, playing in various parades including the Point Place Days parade and the Labor Day parade downtown. They also shine every year at the Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony. This year they played at the grand re-opening of the Point Place Kroger store to the customers' delight.
The band, orchestra, and choir perform in fall, Christmas, and spring concerts at the school as well as performing at the elementary schools for the annual academic banquet at Woodward. The choir is planning a summer trip to New York City this year, and has held various fundraisers including a spaghetti dinner. If you want to be involved, the music department is the way go go!
